A Lecture at the Entrepreneurs’ Club
On 5.02.2025, the Economics Department held a meeting of the Entrepreneurs’ Club. Consultant, coach, business trainer and Founder@bigbrother_business Almas Tolyqbayev met departmental faculty and students in years 1-3. He shared his experience and presented a lecture entitled “Where Does Entrepreneurship Begin?”.
The discussion considered what distinguishes successful entrepreneurs, common startup mistakes, and turning an idea into a successful business. The main topics were:
Where does entrepreneurship begin?
1. The importance of recognising problems and turning them into opportunities. Business is not only a way to earn money but also a means of creating value.
Startup mistakes: fear of failure, poor resource allocation, working without a strategy and a lack of marketing were discussed.
Scaling a business: how automation, entering new markets and developing a brand help a small project grow into an established company.
The main conclusion:
Entrepreneurship is not about luck but about action, perseverance and continuous development. Seeing opportunities, learning from mistakes and seeking mentors’ support all contribute to success.

It was wonderful to see students’ interest in business, their active participation and their desire to develop. I am confident that future successful entrepreneurs are among them — people who will create new companies and jobs and move the economy forward!
