“Developing an Understanding of Building Civil Society”

A well-organised meeting with the city’s young people, entitled “Building Civil Society: Experts’ Perspectives”, took place in the conference hall of Shymkent’s Youth Centre. Students studying law, political science, economics, management, public administration, journalism and history in 3 major cities gathered to share new initiatives, systematic ideas and substantive views.

The speakers were Shymkent maslikhat deputy Талғат Балтабаев, Shymkent Public Council member Рустем Әшетаев, and Head of the BasQaru Public Foundation Марғұлан Ермағанбетұлы. There was an active discussion of building civil society and developing local self-government. The organisers helped participants understand civil society and encouraged young people to become actively involved. At the end, participants asked questions and received answers.
