BRINGING GLORY TO HIS COUNTRY — SAMIRKHON

SAMIRKHON ABABAKIROV, a student on the Physical Education and Sport programme at Peoples’ Friendship University,
at the XXXII Summer World Universiade (RHINE-RUHR 2025, Germany) won a taekwondo gold medal in the under-63 kg category, bringing Kazakhstan its first gold!

Samirkhon, who confidently defeated a Turkish athlete in the final and brought glory to our country, is a true champion!
More than 150 countries took part in this year’s Universiade.
The taekwondo competition was held in Essen, with athletes from 77 countries taking part.

Team Kazakhstan now has 6 bronze medals and 1 gold — 7 medals in total!

Samirkhon’s victory is the fruit of hard work and determination!
