Cinderella premieres at Peoples’ Friendship University: language learning meets art

In 2026, on February 23, Peoples’ Friendship University premiered a distinctive film-performance based on Charles Perrault’s famous fairy tale Cinderella.
The major cultural event was organised by the teaching staff of the Department of Social Disciplines. Students in year 1 from all the university’s degree programmes took part in the production.
The creative project’s main aim:
To develop students’ language skills by staging a production in Russian, spark their interest in the subject and strengthen their commitment to their chosen professions. By the end, it was clear that the aim had been fully achieved: students spoke Russian fluently, demonstrating linguistic competence and strong acting skills.
The awards ceremony:
The highlight of the evening was the participation of the university’s rector (Р.Ә. Қуатбекованың). She praised the students’ performances and, to encourage their enthusiasm for learning:
Presented every participating student with special gifts and letters of appreciation.
Wished the young people success in their creative endeavours and stressed the importance of such initiatives in education.
The students skilfully portrayed the fairy-tale characters, bringing joy to the audience and themselves. This was not the university’s first theatrical premiere, and we look forward to more exciting productions.
