Promoting Family Values

A meeting with young people to promote family values was held today at the Peoples’ Friendship University named after Academician Ә.Қуатбеков. It was organised by the Youth Resource Centre of Shymkent’s Department of Internal Policy and Youth Affairs. Participants included city Police Department officers, Deputy Akim of Shymkent’s Abai District Гүлнұр Нұрбекқызы, and Chair of the Adil Biler Public Association in Zhideli Орынша Кенжебекқызы. Its main purpose was to help the younger generation understand what constitutes a healthy family. Speakers stressed the value of human life and individual rights and urged students not to harm others. Specialists also discussed violence against women and children, divorce and suicide. Youth resource centres in the 3rd major city currently provide free, anonymous psychological assistance to people aged 18-34. Visitors can discuss stress, apathy, suicidal feelings, sleep problems and other situations affecting their health and receive professional support free of charge. At the end, students of the Peoples’ Friendship University named after Academician Ә.Қуатбеков asked their questions and received timely answers.
